Microsoft Adapter 6to. Errors. Hello, I'm having a similar issue using Vista, with a few key differences. First, background information. My ethernet port does not work. It is a motherboard issue, I'm out of my warranty and can't afford to pay for a new one. It has been the only thing that does not work on the motherboard. Wireless has been working fine for two years, until very recently. My wireless connection recently lost the capability to detect wireless networks. It isn't the network itself, as my roommate can still connect without any issues. When I attempt to diagnose why windows cannot find any networks, I am told that there are no networks in range of my computer. I am about ten feet from my router. Before I checked the device manager, I attempted a few things. I disabled the wireless connection, re- enabled and attempted to look for networks. How to disable your computer manufacturer’s wireless. Windows Vista and Windows 7. to the Microsoft Windows Wireless Connection Manager. Disable your. Sometimes this would work in the past. It did not this time. I then checked the device manager, with the intention of uninstalling and reinstalling the driver for the wireless card. I did this, was told that the driver had installed successfully, but still windows could not find any networks. I noticed two instances of the Microsoft 6to. Adapter in the device manager, both with the exclamatory yellow triangles. I uninstalled one, thinking it would re- install, but it didn't. What To Do When Outlook Won't OpenI scanned for hardware changes and nothing was found. For the second instance of the 6to. I had searched the internet for possible solutions and came across this forum. I attempted to update the driver, but as I can't connect to the internet at all, obviously nothing happened. I disabled it in device manager and checked to see if any networks could be found. Nothing still. I checked to see if the registry was somehow modified to disable the 6to. There was no value in the registry for Disable. Components. The values that were there are as follows: Name - Type - Data. Default - REG_SZ - (value not set)Dhcpv. DUID - REG_BINARY - 0. Enable. ICSIPv. 6 - REG_DWORD - 0x. I double clicked Enable. ICSIPv. 6, here is that information: Value data = 1, Base = Hexadecimal. Cannot Open File![]() I did not change anything, as it was not specified in the threads above. Later, I again tried to uninstalled and reinstall the second instance of the 6to. I had uninstalled it. In retrospect, I don't think I should have done this, as now there are no instances of the 6to. I can't find a driver for it anywhere else on the internet either. ![]() Finally, the last thing I've done was trying to do a winsock fix. I opened command prompt as administrator, entered the command netsh winsock reset, restarted. I then opened command prompt again, entered the command netsh int ip reset, and restarted. Again, nothing. I also understand that there is a pretty good chance that my wireless card has simply stopped working. I realize I need to get a new machine, but that isn't really an option at this point. If there is anything you might be able to offer to help this situation I would very much appreciate it. Thanks for taking the time to read and consider this. Best, Court Hillman.
